Sanna Ruohoniemi, a Finnish jazz vocalist based in Stockholm, is the latest in a long line of strikingly individual Nordic artists & composers who successfully melds the open-sky freedom of modern jazz with the rich folk traditions of her homeland. In her music, Sanna leads ahead the bold and self-determined journey into the world of modern vocal jazz, offering a rich and vibrant combination of what jazz music can be all about.
Sanna has released two albums, of which Europe Jazz picked the latest ”Start from Nothing” (Eclipse Music) among one of the best album releases on November 2018. A third album is recorded and will be out in 2023.
Successful album release tours covered for example Stockholm Jazz Festival, and Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival. Sanna tours actively with her band based in Sweden as well as building the combo of musicians wherever she is performing. Sanna is known for expressive live performances, her improvisational verve and creative risk-taking.
