French Hammond organ and piano Master Jean-Yves Jung is a self-taught musician.
He gave concerts in the evenings to finance his university studies in physics until he became a professional musician after graduating in 1992.
Jung studied composition in Paris and took piano lessons with Bojan Zulfikarpašić. In addition to international performances with Biréli Lagrène’s quartet, he was involved in recordings and tours with Billy Cobham’s Higher Ground.
He has also worked with other jazz greats, including André Ceccarelli, Sylvain Luc, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Tony Lakatos, the Paris Jazz Big Band, Howard Alden, Jimmy Woode, Keith Copeland, Nat Reeves, Christian Escoudé and Maxime Bender.
Jean-Yves Jung has performed at international festivals in Rome, Bergen, Berlin, Nice and Paris.
He regularly performs with guitarist Brian Seeger and drummer Paul Wiltgen in the Organic Trio (Home Remembered 2013), and can also be heard on a steadily growing discography.
